Oklahoma County Deputy Tara Hardin shared information about elder fraud to attendees of the Luther Senior Lunch on Tuesday, July 11. She visits Luther on the second Tuesday of every month as part of the SALT, “Seniors and Law Enforcement Together,” program.
Dep. Hardin shared highlights from the 2022 Elder Fraud Report compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). Every day, IC3 receives thousands of complaints reporting a wide variety of schemes, many of them targeting seniors, however, all age ranges have many victims.
The public is encouraged to report any internet-related fraud, even attempted fraud, to the IC3 as soon as possible, and to local authorities.
