The public’s participation is requested as the Town of Luther launches into a process to update zoning ordinances. A kick-off meeting is scheduled for June 20, 2023, at 6:30 PM at Town Hall, 108 S Main, Luther, OK 73054.
The Luther Town Board of Trustees has contracted with Larry Curtis of Mid-America Planning LLC, for the zoning project. The first step involves the community who will hear hear an overview of the project and provude input at the kick-off meeting.
The Town of Luther recognizes the importance of effective zoning ordinances to maintain and enhance the quality of life for its residents, promote economic development, and preserve the unique character of our town.
During the meeting, participants will learn about the zoning process, discuss concerns and ideas, and provide valuable input to help guide the drafting of a new zoning ordinance. Generally, zoning allows local governments to regulate which areas under their jurisdiction may have real estate or land used for particular purposes. Currently, the Town of Luther has zoning for residential, agricultural, commercial/business areas, and others.
The meeting will be facilitated by a team of planning professionals from Mid-America Planning and town officials who are intent on listening to all voices for the project . The process is expected to take about 18 months.
Developing updated zoning is a collaborative effort requiring input from a diverse range of perspectives. Therefore, the Town of Luther encourages all residents, business owners, community, leaders, and interested individuals to attend the kick-off meeting. Your participation is vital in shaping the future of the town’s development and ensuring that the zoning regulations reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.
Together, we can create a zoning ordinance that supports the growth, sustainability, and overall well-being of Luther and its residents.
